SIP, SAVOR — STUPENDOUS!
Members and guests experienced an exquisite treat for their taste buds in December at Mission Inn’s quarterly gourmet wine-pairings dinner featuring exclusive pourings from Enkidu Wine of Sonoma, Calif. Executive Chef Billy Connolly wowed everyone with delectable plates, including a shellfish trio appetizer and a surf-and-turf main course comprised of Australian lamb chops and fresh Atlantic swordfish, that paired perfectly with the variety of limited-edition boutique wines served during the evening for only $85 per person, plus tax and gratuity.
Enkidu owner and winemaker Philip Staehle was on hand to talk about the wines, including the Late Harvest Viognier Chardonnay dessert wine that is not available in Florida and was flown in especially for this dinner. He praised the pairing of the main course with the E Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon as “awesome” and “unique”.
David Trotter, director of food and beverage at Mission Inn, extends his appreciation to all who attended this event and hopes to see you at other wine-pairing dinners planned for 2019. Don’t miss the upcoming dinners in February with Lisa Broman Augustine of Broman Cellars in Helena, Calif., and in March with Rich Hartenberger of Midnight Cellars in Paso Robles, Calif.!
