Venture Down Under for the last of the popular 2019 series of five-course wine pairings dinner at Mission Inn Resort! Executive Chef Billy Connolly and Food and Beverage Director David Trotter have created a unique menu of gourmet courses to marry perfectly with select wines from Penfolds of Australia.
This pairings dinner begins with Ahi tuna and Australian Barramundi carpaccio accompanied by a select Riesling, followed by a roasted pheasant salad paired with a chardonnay. The main course, grilled Australian veal chop with jumbo prawn, is paired with an exquisite cabernet/shiraz blend and served with a hunter sauce created from the same wine. The wines all have earned a rating of 91 points or above. For dessert, a special ice cream creation is paired with Penfolds 20-Year Grandfathers Port, which garnered a rating of 95 points from Wine Enthusiast! Zoe Warrington, the Australian ambassador for Penfolds, will be on hand to talk about the winery and these fine wines. See the complete menu.
