Irish Cuisine and Culture Celebrated on St Patrick’s Day

What was featured on Lincoln’s Inaugural Lunch menu in 1860?
Was it (a) potatoes (b) corned beef (c) blackberry pie or (d) all of the above?

The answer is (d) all of the above.

Immigrants to America celebrated their roots and culture on St. Patrick’s Day and corned beef was the dish of choice. Unlike back home in Ireland, beef was easier and cheaper to obtain in America. Likewise, cabbage too was readily available.

Guests of Mission Inn Resort & Club can enjoy Orlando St. Patrick’s Day events with a presidential meal of their own on March 17th.

Resort kitchens are definitely well stocked with an inventory of potatoes, cabbage, and corned beef in anticipation of two St. Patrick’s Day culinary events.

From 11:00 am to 2:00 pm the St. Patrick’s Grand Lunch, hosted at on-site La Hacienda Restaurant, features favourites like Guinness Irish Lamb Stew, Irish Banger Stew, Guinness Beer Braised Green Cabbage, Carrots & New Potatoes, and Blarney Bacon Pub Chips.

Guests can raise a pint with Guinness Stout Beer at 50% off and live piano music.

From 5:00 to 9:00 pm at Nicker’s, The Seafood, Sushi, Corned Beef Buffet offers guests a delicious culinary experience with Endless Guinness Stout or Green Bud Light Draft as well. Sweeten the dining event with delectable desserts like Irish Bread Pudding or Bailey’s Irish Cheesecake Parfaits.

Emerald Fairways Ready for St. Patrick’s Day Play

Did you know Ireland’s official colour of state is blue?

While St. Patrick’s Day revelers get out the green, the Order of St. Patrick which dates back to the 180’s is actually blue. The colour green emerged during the rise of Irish nationalism in the 19th century.

And the Orlando St. Patrick’s Day events don’t stop with mouth-watering meals! Guest have been enjoying the green at Mission Inn for generations, and on March 17th might even find their St Paddy’s pot of gold with a hole-in-one.

The resort is home to two world class golf courses, El Campeón and Las Colinas, which offer great design features and beautifully maintained fairways, putting green and chipping areas. With elevation changes, challenging water hazards and bunkers, golf enthusiasts will find plenty to satisfy.

Afterwards, raise a pint of Guinness at one of several onsite lounges or relax tired muscles with an invigorating massage treatment at Spa Marbella.
