Leesburg Bikefest
The area surrounding Mission Inn and Resort in Lake County, Florida, is home to picturesque lakes and quaint small towns. But for one weekend a year, Lake County’s town of Leesburg, just a quick 20 minute drive away from Mission Inn, revs its engine and becomes the hottest spot in Florida. Leesburg Bikefest is the world’s largest motorcycle and music event, taking place April 26-28, 2019. Featuring hundreds of vendors, six stages, and eight different venues, the entirety of downtown Leesburg will be bustling and rumbling all weekend. A paradise for motorcycle enthusiasts, the downtown core will be open only to vehicles on two wheels, offering a great opportunity to check out custom bikes from across the country or watch some experts put their wheels to the test at one of the stunt riding competitions. If watching death-defying stunts on motorcycles isn’t your thing, check out one of the many live music shows instead! Rooms at Mission Inn are already fully booked for this world-class event, but those visiting the festival are encouraged to relax and recuperate with a day on the links, or with one of our luxurious spa packages!
Mother’s Day Brunch
Mother’s Day is a truly all-American holiday. The first Mother’s day began with the tireless efforts of Ann Reeves Jarvis. After the death of her mother,  Ms. Jarvis wanted to honor the sacrifices mothers make for their children by commemorating them on this special day. Ms. Jarvis lobbied for the holiday, and the first official celebration was held in 1908 in Grafton, West Virginia. Six years later, President Woodrow Wilson ratified Ms. Jarvis’ celebration as an official holiday occuring the second Sunday each May. Since then, Mother’s Day has become a special day for celebrating moms of all kinds – and what better way to celebrate than with a luxurious brunch? While May seems like it is far away, planning ahead is key in ensuring the moms in your life feel special on their holiday. Reserve today for brunch at Mission Inn’s La Hacienda & Nicker’s Restaurant, and treat your mom to a grand feast, live music, and bottomless champagne! Top her day off by booking one of our many spa treatments to make her really feel like the incredible and important woman she is.
Fishing in Lake County
Whether you love to fish to try and compete for the largest bass, or if you just like the serene calm water of a lake early in the morning, the Harris Chain of lakes in Lake County, Florida is the place to be! One of the best places in the world for big bass fishing, the Harris Chain of lakes sits right outside the door of Mission Inn & Resort. According to big bass fishing enthusiasts and experts, April is the best month for bass fishing. The temperature is perfect for sitting out on the water, and since it is spawning season, there is a noticeable increase in both the size and number of fish. The beautiful Harris Chain of lakes has been well cared-for over the years, leading to a great diversity of fish that are fun to catch and safe to eat. Mission Inn is equipped with a marina right on Big Lake Harris where you can rent a boat for a half-day and try your hand at fishing, or just get out on the water and enjoy the idyllic spring weather Florida has to offer.
