Come out, come out, wherever you are! Fall has arrived, ushering in some of Florida’s best weather. Lake County is bursting with a cornucopia of unique and fun outdoor festivals. For bicyclers and birdwatchers, sportsmen and shoppers, there are events to appeal to a wide range of interests.
Hop on your bike and take part in the Mount Dora Bicycle Festival the first weekend in October. Sixteen scenic routes in Central Florida are designed to challenge riders at any level during this four-day cycling social.
Learn about and observe native plants, wildflowers, birds, and butterflies at the Festival of Flight and Flowers. Downtown Eustis hosts a one-day festival on Saturday, Oct. 12, while field trips, birdwatching, and conservation walks are planned around the county from Friday through Sunday.
The annual Mount Dora Craft Fair returns the last weekend of October, featuring more than 400 talented artists and crafters from across the country. More than 100,000 visitors are expected to attend the two-day event that also will offer entertainment and food options.
There’s nothing scary about the bass fishing championship that starts on Halloween. The three-day Xtreme Bass Series Championship will draw more than 100 teams from across Florida to Leesburg to compete for a new bass boat.
