It’s Nesting Time
Spring at Mission Inn is the time of year that our large resident feathered friends are nesting again!
Each year, breeding pairs of ospreys return to their usual nests on posts high above the resort to hatch and raise their broods. You’ve likely seen them soaring in the sky across the resort property. The big black-and-white fish hawks resemble bald eagles from a distance but are distinguished by their white breasts and the linear marking on the side of their heads. They feed mainly on fish and they can be observed diving for their catch in fresh water or saltwater, which is where they get their nickname!
Mission Inn’s OspreyCam provides a bird’s eye view inside the nest of one osprey family. Peek in on them at missioninnresort.com/osprey.
