In Their Honor

A half-size replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial is visiting Eustis, its only stop in Florida this year.

The Moving Wall is engraved with the names of 58,228 servicemen and women who lost their lives in the Vietnam War, a powerful display that immortalizes their names. The Moving Wall, which has toured the country for 35 years, will be in Eustis from Oct. 31 until Nov. 4 in conjunction with an inaugural event to pay tribute to active military, veterans, first responders, and the family and friends who support them. Vet Fest Lake County is a family-friendly event that will raise money for two not-for-profit groups in Lake County that aid veterans — Last Ride and One Team One Fight 4 PTSD.

Activities during the four-day event include a gala dinner, a 5K run/walk and bicycle ride, and bed races hosted by Gator Harley Davidson and the Nam Knights MC Green Swamp Chapter. On Sunday afternoon, Nov. 3, a Veterans Day Parade through Eustis will culminate with a closing ceremony at The Moving Wall.

For more information about this event, go to eustis.org/event_flyers/vet_fest_lake_county.php. For hotel accommodations during this event, visit missioninnresort.com or call (352) 268-9574.

Salute our veterans during Vet Fest Lake County and on Veterans Day on Monday, Nov. 11!
