Osprey Nesting Habits
Ospreys often nest in bizarre places like on top of cranes, power poles and even stadium lights, so this location at Mission Inn isn’t a surprise. When you visit the Osprey Nest Cam on the resort’s website, you can see the elaborate stick formation of the nest and the osprey mother busy at work, keeping vigilant over her territory.
A large bird, the osprey might look like a bald eagle at first glance with its white head and under part, but it differs with its distinct black eye stripe. This regal flyer with a five to six foot wingspan uses pads on its feet to pluck fish out of the water and curved claws for carrying its prey.
The tall tree home to the osprey nest stands near the resort pool. As you delight in a refreshing afternoon swim, you can glance up and see it. It’s one of many activities you can enjoy at Mission Inn like golfing on the two award winning courses on the grounds.
