Florida Golf Culture and Golfing Greats
Offering phenomenal golf and premier accommodation, Mission Inn Resort & Club is a central Florida golf resort situated only a few hours from the birthplace of some golfing greats like Daniel Berger, Bubba Watson and Billy Horschel.
Daniel Berger – Young and Fierce
At just 24 years old and with PGA Tour wins, Daniel Berger’s golf career took off with a bang. In 2015 he was named PGA Rookie of the Year and in both 2016 and 2017 won the FedEx St Jude Classic. Berger was born in Plantation, near Fort Lauderdale and is the son of champion tennis player Jay Berger.
Bubba Watson Jr. – Unique and Brilliant
Champion PGA golfer Gerry Lester “Bubba” Watson Jr. grew up in Bagdad in Southern Florida. Bubba started golfing at age 6, and though he received no formal training in the sport, won the Masters title twice, in 2012 and 2014. He also won the Travelers Championship in 2010. Perhaps the hot pink shafted driver he uses is part of the magic.
Billy Horschel – Four Tees and a 1936 Quarter
Billy Horschel, a successful 30 year old PGA golfer, was born in Grant Florida. He has had four PGA Tour wins including the Zurich Classic of New Orleans in 2013, the BMW Championship in 2014, the Tour Championship also in 2014 and the AT&T Byron Nelson in 2017.
Florida Golf Culture
Home to some golfing greats, Florida is also definitely a hub for golf. The State boasts a lovely temperate climate and is home to premier golf training facilities and golf courses, including two situated at Mission Inn Resort & Club.
El Campeón, designed by master golf architect George O’Neill, is a challenging course with elevation changes of over 85 feet and rolling fairways. Golf Advisor awarded it #1 Top Florida Golf course and #2 Top U.S. Golf course in 2015, and it continues to garner praise.
Ranked as one of the top 25 golf courses in Florida, Las Colinas offers golfing enthusiasts an inland links design and wide open fairways.
Mission Inn Resort reflects the phenomenal Florida golf culture around it. With great golfing and great courses, you may not become a national champion, but you’ll definitely enjoy a great golf experience.
