Favorite White Wines at Mission Inn’s El Conquistador
Don Klicker shares his favorite White Wines at El Conquistador at Mission Inn Resort!
Roman Writer Petronius once said “Wine is life,” and truthfully we couldn’t agree more. There are 7 different types of White Wine; Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Moscato, Pinot Grigio, Gewürztraminer, and Riesling. Two of our favorites are Sauvignon Blanc and Moscato.
Sauvignon Blanc typically has dominating flavors that may include pears, gooseberries and sour green apples. These wines tend to have smoky qualities and bright aromas. Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc is our favorite Sauvignon that we serve on Mission Inn Property. This wine has a bright yellow lemon color, with aromas of pink grapefruit, key lime and pineapple. It has a mouthwatering acidity and crisp finish. The Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc is from New Zeeland and it is one of our Best Sellers. This wine is paired really well with our Chicken Caesar Salad, Chilean Sea Bass or Lobster Scampi.
Our second favorite White Wine is Moscato. Moscatos are very sweet, always fruity and have hints of musky aromas. The Ruffino Moscato d’Asti is our favorite Moscato that we serve at our restaurants. With a beautiful light yellow straw color, this sparkling and refreshing wine has notes of ripe peach, sweet citrus and orange blossoms. It is very flavorful on the palate and pairs well with any dish. We recommend pairing it with our Classic Chicken Piccata, Salmon Caesar Salad or Conquistador Stuffed Shrimp.
