Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. (Jan. 6, 2015) – Both golf courses at Mission Inn Resort & Club have been named to the list of Top Public Courses In Florida by Golf Digest magazine. El Campeón is No. 29 and Las Colinas in No. 68 in the rankings, which name only 75 courses in the January issue of the magazine.
Mission Inn’s two championship courses include 36 holes of rare tee-to-green elevations of 85 feet, towering forests and sparkling spring-fed lakes. El Campeón (The Champion) was designed by George O’Neil of Chicago in 1917 and further enhanced in 1926 by Charles E. Clarke of Troon, Scotland. The course is featured on the new Florida Historic Golf Trail.
Las Colinas (The Hills), the resort’s second 18-hole layout, was designed by former PGA Tour player Gary Koch and opened in 1992 to immediate acclaim. The more forgiving Las Colinas was renovated in 2007.
Whether it’s the snowbird coming down from the north, or locals looking for a chance to play two of Florida’s top courses, golfers enjoy the laid-back atmosphere at Mission Inn, which in 2014 celebrated 50 years of family ownership.
Guests will find everything they want at Mission Inn at a price that’s worth celebrating – and just far enough away from the theme-park craziness, just 45 minutes from Orlando. Mission Inn Resort is about to begin its next 50 years of offering affordable, family-friendly accommodations and activities on 1,100 beautiful acres of rolling citrus hills in Central Florida
