Must-Visit Bakery in Central Florida Golf Area
If you happen to be passing through Howey-in-the-Hills, a renowned Central Florida golf area, be sure to visit Yalaha Bakery for some delicious freshly baked treats.
Sure, the manicured fairway is bee-utiful. And, yes we think the unparalleled Mission Inn golf course design is the bee’s knees. But it might be the bee sting that you get here that keeps you coming back!
We’re referring to a special treat from the Yalaha Bakery called the “bee sting”.
The Best Pastries In Central Florida
Built in 1995 this German style bakery, about a 7 minute drive from Mission Inn, invites visitors into a Bavarian style building, complete with elaborate and colorful entrance.
As the story goes, the unique name was inspired by one of the earliest settlers, Capt. W.J. McEaddy, who was once offered a Yalaha by a friendly Indian. Yalaha was the word for “yellow orange”. And with that the little town had a name.
A large parking area accommodates both private vehicles and bus charters. This is a great destination for visitors who are enjoying the uncommon hilly landscape in this renowned central Florida golf area.
Once inside, visitors select a number from the dispenser and get busy deciding what they are going to order when their number is called. Behind the counter is a hive of activity! Friendly staff give visitors helpful information about the assortment of sweet and savory treats while they buzz around fulfilling orders, and running the coffee bar.
What to Order at Yalaha Bakery
Yalaha Bakery has an amazing array of authentic German foods including the aforementioned bee sting, or bienenstich in German, a brioche cake glazed with orange-blossom honey, filled with Bavarian cream and topped with almonds. What’s not to love?
And Yalaha is more than just about pastries. Ease in to your day with a relaxing cup of coffee in the courtyard surrounded by cool green lawns and towering trees draped in Spanish moss, or fuel up with a full breakfast of fresh baked breads, eggs sunny side up and unique German sausages. Or, after you packed up your golf clubs and tallied the scores, raise a stein at the beer garden and refresh with a Reuben sandwich with a side of homemade German potato salad.
Or join the fun every weekend when musicians perform live concerts on the bakery grounds. The bakery is open daily from 8am-8pm at 8210 County Road 48, Yalaha, Florida 34797. Tel: 352.324.3366.
