At Mission Inn, tennis is more than just a pastime, it's a passion.
Our tennis facilities and programs are among the best of the best. The Central Florida area offers an ideal climate for comfortable outdoor tennis play throughout the year and all of our courts are lighted for evening practice and play. The resort offers six Har-Tru clay courts and two Laykold all-weather courts on our magnificent grounds. Just like the resort, all of our facilities are open to the public. Mission Inn Resort and Club has been listed in the "Top 25 Resorts and Tennis Programs" by World Tennis Magazine.
We have an energetic and dynamic tennis staff led by our Director of Tennis & Fitness, Cesar Villarroel. Cesar is a Level One certified USPTA & USPTR teacher and is also certified through the National Endurance Fitness Training Association. He's listed as one of the Top 100 Tennis Coaches in the USA from Peterson's Tennis Camps and Clinics and serves on the Wilson and Adidas Tennis Advisory Staffs. In addition to these distinguished roles, he also serves as one of the select tennis professionals offering 'One Minute Tennis Clinics' featured on the Tennis Channel.
A former Davis Cup player for Bolivia he was honored to have been selected as the 2009 Bolivia Junior Davis Cup Coach.
Our USPTA certified pros are eager to share their knowledge and help you reach your tennis potential. Gene Jacobsen is our Assistant Tennis Pro and he has implemented the USTA's QuickStart Tennis Program. QuickStart Tennis is an exciting new play format for learning tennis, designed to bring kids into the game by utilizing specialized equipment, shorter court dimensions and modified scoring, all tailored to age and size. It is divided into two different levels-- ages 8 and under and ages 10 and under.
Dedicated to enhancing the game of its visitors, Mission Inn's instructional clinics are offered daily. Whether you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced player, there is a clinic specifically formatted to any level. The clinics focus on several aspects of tennis including net play (volleys and overheads), groundstrokes and serves. Our programs feature intense instruction, luxurious accommodations, and personal attention and professionalism from our tennis and resort staff 365 days a year.
In 2008, the Mission Inn Resort & Club became the U.S.-based home for Justine Henin's 6th Sense Tennis Academy. The seven-time Grand Slam Champion and former Sony Ericsson WTA Tour #1 ranked player and her long-time coach, Carlos Rodriquez, launched the academy to offer their proven, specific, differential philosophy to other rising tennis players.

Instructional Clinics A long staple of European instruction, QuickStart Tennis has caught on in the United States. Justine Henin cites QuickStart Tennis as a key to her development as a young player. These clinics are offered Saturdays from 1 - 2pm. After School Tennis Clinics are a great way to learn the fundamentals and have fun with friends. Our Tennis on Target clinic focus on players ages 18 and over - we'll improve your shot accuracy and reduce unforced errors. We also host Doubles Clinics every Monday and Friday evening. Clinic reservations must be received in advance. Please contact the Pro Shop to reserve 24 hours in advance.
Florida Junior Golf, Inc. is also sponsoring FREE Junior Tennis Clinics and Tournaments.
The Mission Inn Resort & Club is the ONLY Lake County outlet providing full-service racquet service. We offer a complete variety of racquet services to tennis players at every level. From touring pros to weekend warriors and juniors, we can fine tune your racquet, assuring you of optimum performance on the court.
Private Lessons Private and Semi-private lessons are available. We take pride in scheduling the best pro to fit your individual needs. Please let us know your level and focus for your individual session as we schedule your lesson. Lessons costs range from $30 (one-hour group lesson) to $100 for a one-hour private lesson (we do have volume discounts).
Match Arranging Looking for some competition? We enjoy finding the perfect match for you. Doubles, Singles, Hitting...we have a wide variety of guests, members and staff that would love to beat you! This service is complimentary. Please contact Cesar or Gene to reserve 24 hours in advance.
